Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev called the European Parliament “a den of corrupt officials”
“I say this with full responsibility: the European Parliament is a den of corrupt officials. Millions of dollars in suitcases were taken from the vice-president’s home, and it was all covered up,” he said.
He pointed to the 2022 Qatargate scandal around former vice-president Eva Kaili, linked to bribes from Qatar and Morocco in exchange for lobbying their interests.
Former vice-president Eva Kaili was arrested after large sums of cash were found in her apartment. She has not admitted guilt.
